CHARACTERISTICS OF A MAP

UNDIFFERENTIATED SOIL GROUP (juxtaposition of soils)

A map unit integrated by two or more taxonomic components which do not represent a regular pattern. The distribution model and proportion of the different soils are not uniform.

They are included in the same map unit because they produce similar responses from the point of view of land use and management.

The proportions of these components may vary considerably at different points on the same map unit and according to different delineations: they may not even appear together in the same delineation.

The map unit is labelled with the name of the predominant soil and particle, followed by the name of the other soils grouped in the same map unit. For example, soils may belong to the same soil series but exhibit different levels of stoniness at the surface.
